Just hoping a few of you might be able to take a peek at Jack's spreadsheet. We made the switch from PZ to Levemir 2 weeks ago and I just can't figure him out. i know it takes a little time, but just looking for some advice. not sure if I should increase the dose again. We had tried a decrease due to a possible rebound and he did for a few days, then went back up. Lately his pattern is to run high through the day with little drop, then after his PM shot drop into yellows or blues. Maybe the increase up to .7 just needs a little more time to work? or should I increase again?

Some days it seems he doesn't eat too much during the day, and on those days he doesn't seem to drop much. But yesterday he ate well all day and stayed high all day.

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated! Thanks.

I posted here because the Levemir forum is very quiet, I get very few looking at posts and responding. But I will try cross posting there again. Thanks.

I disagree. It looks like 0.7u is not enough insulin. You are getting lower numbers at night though. How is your feeding pattern different in the am vs pm cycles?

Jack free feeds, generally there is always food available and I have an auto feeder that goes off during the day when I am at work and once overnight. But some days he just doesn't as much as other days. It had seemed that on those days, he seems to run higher. I have been really trying to watch for something different in the evenings, but not really coming up with anything especially different.

I rarely say this...but perhaps the lantus folks could help you if the lev room is too quiet.
They run a tighter protocol, but have alot of traffic all day long and you will not go without a thourough examination of your SS if you ask for one.

Thanks Lori...I got some replies on the Lev board last night so I will see what happens.
But maybe today's numbers will help to see why I am so crazy and confused with this. confused_cat

332 @ AMPS slight increase to .8 shot
353 @ +1
72 @ +9 no one home during the day to test...I wonder what happened in between
86 @ +10
107 @ PMPS shot .8 (i hope I'm not sorry!)

Shot the .8 at PM since he was rising and had done OK on the dose before. I hated to change the dose again and I need to leave for about an hour and a half so i couldn't stall the shot. Will be home for the rest of the evening so I can check him frequently (daughter will be home while I am out to keep an eye on him too).

good choice, i like it. eager to see what his + whatever is.

any more tests tonight?
eta: just checked your +3...nice.
your becoming a test-a-holic yes?
I go thru those phases...specially when starting a new insulin.

your good, he's coming down nice and slow...he should start lingering pretty soon
tom can sit on the very same number for hours.

Don't you love it when they surprise you with a good response for a cycle?!? ohmygod_smile

Keep a watch on him tonight. With the slightly raised dose, his nadir might be slightly later than it has been. Oscar gives fluke cycles like these on occasion, but they are usually at least a week or more in between. I wouldn't advocate bringing down the dose for the next shot just yet. You need to see if these lower numbers will be a pattern or a fluke first. (especially because of the wide range of numbers you have been getting lately)

Yesterday's cycle was a surprise for sure! I was at work and had my son test him when he got home from school (he's 16) and call me with the reading. He left me a voice mail saying it was 72. I called him back and said "Just 72?? Not 372? 272? 172? JUST 72???" I'm just hoping I don't get a rebound after this.

I am seeing the difference between the ProZinc and Levemir...and not to adjust the dose too quickly based on one number. But I have to admit, it was did make me a bit nervous to shoot that 107 last evening! I know I will get used to it, though.

i had such a hard time shooting the low numbers too Darlene....i think all of us pro zinc people come here just trained to NEVER shoot those kind of numbers.

So...too good to be true...here's the bounce today

328 @ AMPS .8 un
329 @ +3
434 @ +7
433 @ +9 again, didn't eat much this afternoon. my dtr was home today and said he was active a few hrs this morning, then sleeping all afternoon, warm humid day
333 @ PMPS .8 un eating well now

The 329 at +9 seems strange since you also include a 443 +9. Should the 329 be +3?
