Jack 41 @ +11! No hypo symptoms, but still concerned....

Jack hit an all time low today, 41@ +11, 60 pmps. Wouldn't eat, finally inhaled half a can of FF, puked it up, and is now circling the dish, thinking about eating more. He exhibited no hypo symptoms. He was acting a little sleepy maybe, but that's it. Didn't give Karo and he's now under the bathroom vanity messing with something, acting normal. I just busted him eating a couple pieces of dry food that spilled under the vanity! LOL. Naughty. What's with the low #s? Should I be expecting more of these, which I also assume is leading to good things?

Wow it's a whole new ballgame for Jack.

Obviously you need to throw out your current scale and lower your dose. I dont have time to analyze his ss tonight but I will tomorrow.

You really should start posting daily to get as many eyes on Jack and his ss as you can get.

He will probably be high again in the morning so go with a lower dose than you did today.

He's keeping me on my toes, I'll tell you that! He was about 450 this morning. He's being fussy about his food. Will eat parm cheese sprinkled on it, or tuna, or old, dry kibble he happens upon, so I know he's not eating because something's "wrong". Tested him at +1 &1/2 and he was in mid/low 300's. I think I am going to stick with the .75 units, too.

Preening/grooming?
Purring?
Playing?

Is he "meatloafing" - resting in the classic Sphinx position, rather than laying down relaxed?
Pacing, vocalizing?

He's peeing, a lot when I catch him in the act.
Drinking is good. Doesn't seem as crazy for water as when first diagnosed.
Pooping is...I'm not sure. I clean the box either every day or EOD. There's usually a few "tootsie rolls" in there for me. I have another cat, too, so I'm assuming they both are because there's different-sized poops.
Grooms the same.
Purrs the same.
Plays the same.
He lays all different ways~meatloafs, lays down, curls up.
He meows when he wants to go out, or if I "talk" to him.
No pacing.
He acts totally normal. Does have some minor "twitchies" (his head and front paws).

He'll be OK - he's low probably because he vomited earlier.

Stall for 30 minutes without feeding and retest. We want him to be rising in order to be safe if giving insulin.

You'll want to keep an eye on the vomiting. That'll make any scale worthless.

If it was a scarf 'n' barf, try spreading the food thinly across the plate to slow down the eating.

Seems like he is behaving OK, so lets hope it was something simple like a hairball or the scarf 'n' barf, and that he's done with it.

Sometimes a bit of active play may trigger eating behavior afterwards - a behavior cycle of hunt, catch, kill, eat, (eliminate), groom, sleep.

He's been a scarf-n-barfer since I've had him (almost 13 years). Been to vets a few times for it, no probs found.

Freezing part of the food to thaw and be 'nibbled' later helps with scarf 'n' barf, too. ;-)
