Her name is Cali, she's 14 years old spayed calico on 7u of NPH being shot blind and at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning she will be snatched from the jaws of death and come to live with the Fur Gang for the next 4 months while her daddy gets medical treatment out of state. Daddy's family were going to kill her but since they use my vet Dr Tami called me instead.

The deal we struck was if after 6 months he can't reclaim her I have the right to either keep her as mine or rehome her. But if he reclaims her and needs to go out of town again he'll call me to be her kitty sitter. No more endangering her life by asking his daughter to care for her.

What? its a wonder she is not gone already on that much insulin. Best of luck, you know we will want pictures when you get a chance. Are you going to change her insulin?

That is one super duper lucky kitty!!! Cali, my girl, you don't know it yet, but you just won the kitty lottery. Maybe you'll "break" her before she needs to go back home and she'll be OTJ. ;-) You have the magic touch Mel, and, at the very least, she will be safer and healthier for having your care. Hopefully, by then, you can help Daddy learn what he needs if/when he takes over.

Just got home with her and she's absolutely terrified so tonight she will just be decompressing in the bathroom not going to bother trying to test or shoot tonight. Since I don't know what was shot when.

But here she is.

Oh and she will join the ranks of the Levemir kids here. So not chasing numbers with NPH.

Oh precious Cali. Momma Mel is going to take real good care of you because as Holly said, you won the kitty lottery.

What a pretty girl! Good luck with getting her regulated. I am sure she's scared stiff with some many smells, but once she feels better... ;-)

Hello Sweet Cali! You are one lucky kitty, I am so glad to meet you! Relax and feel the love, dear one. You are in a great place now.

Thanks all. So really didn't need a summer house guest but just couldn't see someone having to make a choice between their own health and well being and the life of a beloved furry family member.

And bless my vet for not only making the call to spare Cali's life but she's also picking up all her testing supplies, vet care and food on her own dime.

You are truly the Fairly Oddmother of Sugar Pussies!

Well done you, and well done to your awesome vet, too!

I hope Cali calms down & settles in very soon. She has landed on the right planet for sure.

My faith in humanity is rekindled once again.
