Gabe tested him at 5 pm, he was at 436...gave him food and his shot about 30 mins later (his usual .5) and tested him again at 9 pm and he was still at 322...does anyone know how that could be?? Its the first time I havent seen his number around 130-140 after his shot...

Now it's up to 444...I'm not sure if I should give him another shot? It's only been 5.5 hours.

Could be two things..

1. He could have dropped low last night and be bouncing as a result

2. Humalin may need dosed on a sliding scale based on preshot numbers.. But you will need more data to know that

How's the lantus hunt coming along?

It's not. Not yet. The vet I went to won't give me the pens til I come in for the curve they are demanding, and I haven't been able to find a vet yet that has much experience with diabetic cats. I have only had time to call a few places though. And I won't be able to pay for another visit for a couple weeks anyway, so Im stuck with the humulin for a bit longer. I'm worried if I give him more he will drop low while Im sleeping or something

You can do your own curve over the weekend or another day off.

Its simple - from pre-shot to pre-shot, just test every 2 hours and record the data.

Any chance you could shoot the 0.5 TID (3 times a day)? That'd get your best control.
Otherwise, try to pick up all food about 6 hours after eating, so long as he's doing OK.

Wendy that's exactly the place I plan on calling. And I don't think I can do the every 8 hours thing, there is a large chunk of the day when neither of us are at home, and Gabe's elderly mother is the only one here. And she wants no part of treating the cat. Both of us are gone 10 hours out of the day, plus travel time. I have a day off coming this weekend, I will try to do my own curve then. But doing it at home will not make the vet re-write the scrip, I think the issue is they aren't making money off me if I don't come in for their weekly curve. It was obvious from the start that they didn't give a s*** about my situation, excuse my language.

Well, doing it will give the next and hopefully better, vet, something to work with.
