Is this unusual ?

If you take a look at Dashers SS is it normal for his numbers to be so good so early on? I almost feel like it's the calm before the storm. How can a cat go from the mid 400's and needing 3U to pretty much in range numbers on 0.5u in no time at all.
Is this a good sign or is this just a smoke screen and the bottom is about to fall out?

I'm going to do another curve next week to get a more solid idea but as of today I'm not sure what to think.

Tisha did, and it's really not uncommon if you changed your cat's diet. It means you're doing a good job. Congratulations!

Every cat is different of course, but this has happened many times to other member's fur babies. Tommy was slow in getting into the good numbers, so this is a good thing. Please remember that it may or may not remain this way, and that the numbers can rise again. Don't get discouraged, take deep breaths and lovingly keep on going. I wish for you a speedy OTJ (off insulin)!

It really can happen just that quickly.

My Maxwell lasted on insulin exactly 2 weeks all he really needed was a safe place to call home (he was adopted as a diabetic) and a proper diet. That was 4 years ago as of November 1st and he hasn't looked back yet.

Keep up the GREAT work and I dearly pray we will throwing him a bon voyage party as he heads to The Falls (Our way of saying he's in remission and insulin free) very soon.

Yayyyy! Doing GREAT! It really can happen that fast! I think most causes are strictly because of diet and once diets changed that drastically makes a difference, then if given insulin it kicks the pancreas back in gear.

I know with Hidey, he was only on insulin for 2 months, and the first month he was on vetsulin which I knew wasnt helping but my vet asked for me to give it a month. As soon as I had him switched to Prozinc, changed his diet, and had a cleaning with 2 extractions he went OTJ! (and this, sadly, was doing everything my vet advised not to do....diet change, different insulin, home testing)

My fingers are crossed :mrgreen:
