Is this a symptom of IBD?

Hi everyone,
My boy Jebat pooped 3 times today which is not usual. Not very loose but the 3rd time, there was blood. We also noticed him excreting just blood and mucus, maybe a tablespoon, 3 times after that, around 11/2 hours interval. I called the emergency number but the vet Asst said it can wait till tmr as he’s alert and eating and playing as normal.
I’m getting a bit worried though. Could this be IBD? If it is, what medication should I avoid so as not to affect his remission? I understand certain anti-inflammatory steroid is to be avoided. His usual specialist is not in tomorrow and we are seeing a stand-in vet and I’m afraid they may not be well-versed with FD. Appreciate any advice. It’s a tricky situation as he’s also on medication for heart and kidney failures.
 
It can be IBD, but there are other things too like an ulcer, anal gland issues, and probably other things. It could be as simple as a little scratch in the lining of the old "poop chute" if maybe he had to strain with constipation, so try not to worry too much. But it's good that you can get in tomorrow.

The important thing for you to keep track of, in addition to the volume (which you already know), is the color. If it is bright red then we know it is coming from further down the GI tract, whereas darker or almost black means it is coming from somewhere higher.

We've only had this happen once in a civvie, and we treated it with an Rx tablet (can't remember the name) that we dissolved in water to make a chalky substance kind of like Maalox because they thought it was an irritation in the stomach like an ulcer, which cleared it up. I'll admit it was shocking to see and I was definitely concerned too, but hopefully Jebat will be just fine as well.

Hope the vet can get Jebat's GI issue sorted quickly. Please let us know how things go with the vets.

Throughout the night, he only pooped once, very runny. Still eating and acting normal. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. Few months back we did an ultrasound, and there was some thickening of small intestine. But as he was asymptomatic, the specialist wasn’t concerned. And he has heart failure around the same time, so we had to prioritise the treatment. If his condition improves today, I’ll see the specialist tmr instead of the stand in vet today. I’m very wary of vets.
