Hi all, I want to switch from Caninsulin to glargine, because it acts slower and more gradually than Caninsulin.

However, after some googling, I cannot find websites that ship insulin to Hong Kong, or any international shipping.

Thanks!

Are you sure you can’t buy glargine from pharmacies there. It is a human insulin so I’m sure they would have it. All you would need is a prescription from your vet. The other name for glarine is Lantus. Other options are Basaglar (virtually the same as Lantus) or levemir which is similar to Lantus.

Is the glargine for human same as for cat? I know I can find glargine for human. But I have no idea about for cats. I have contact my vet and I am waiting for his reply.

Yes the glargine for humans is the same one for cats.
I used to buy levemir for Sheba from the pharmacy with a script from the vet. The same for glargine. They usually sell them in a pack of 5 for use with a pen. You just need to buy the actual 5 pen pack I think it is called and use the cartridges....you insert the syringe needle into the cartridge.
I used to be able to buy a 5 pack for $99 in Australia

Yes, that's it....but that's a vial...it holds 10ml or 1000 units. Most cat's can't use that much insulin before it starts to lose efficacy so we suggest buying the 5 pack of pens/cartridges. Each pen only holds 300 units so you don't end up throwing a bunch of it away when it loses efficacy.

Thanks, could you please give me the exact product name? To make sure I do not get the wrong one.

You can ask for either Lantus Solostar Pens or Basaglar Kwikpens….they come in a box of 5

Both of them you just pull the cap off and on the inside is a rubber stopper just like a vial. You use regular insulin syringes (U100, 3/10ml, 30 or 31 gauge, preferably with half unit marks) and pull the insulin out of the pen. You don't use the special pen needles that humans do
