is there water retention in kidney failure?

Greylie has put on weight even though he is not eating more than before. Also the urine output must be the same. Between him and Sophia who has hyper -t it is enormous. Can it be that he just retains water because of his kidney failure?
 
I only know that in end-stage renal failure, peeing stops and the cat bloats up with
fluid, especially if given Sub-Q.

This happened to my Patches. Vet gave her fluids, she never peed them out.
Brought her home and she died two days later.
 
he is drinkign a lot of water. Today he had his teethe cleaned and also had a blood test to see how his kidneys are doing... his coat looks nice and shiny and he eats well... I hope his numbers will be fine.
