Priss has had the liplicking but no vomiting since we found out she had diabetes, before the diabetes we didn't see her do this. After she needed to go to the hospital for DKA the iternalist mentioned she might have an underlying condition like lymphoma. They wanted to do an ultrasound to rule this out but right now we can't afford it or the treatment if she does have cancer. She is normal besides this, and eats fine. Is this a common side effect of the diabetes or would it be more likely pancreatitis or another problem?

What causes nausea with lymphoma is the chemo, I am not sure they would be nauseaus from the actual lymphoma.. I think its more likely pancreatitis but ..I am not a vet. You could try a quarter of a 10mg Normal strength Pepcid AC (NOT pepcid complete!) and see if it helps. Sometimes cats with kidney issues can be nauseaus too.

I hope Priss feels better soon.

Lots of diabetic cats get pancreatitis.
Here is a recent link that might help: A Primer On Pancreatitis, by Marge and also this one: chronic pancreatitis (or does my cat have a pepcid deficiency?), by Jojo
I give Pepcid AC to J.D. every day for stomach acid (he throws up clear bile in the mornings, if I don't give it), and Ondansetron to help with his nausea. The fasting Spec fPL test is the best one to test for pancreatitis and has to be sent out. It wasn't that expensive. I think ours was like $85.

I hope Priss feels better real soon. She's so pretty.

My diabetic cats have not had nausea problems. Something else could be the problem.

My Hyperthyroid cat DOES have a lot of nausea / upset stomach problems.
