I read on here it's important to feed low phosphorous food. I am currently feeding them Friskies Special Turkey n Giblets... I think it's like 6% or 7% carb and low on phosphorous...like 189 or something like that... As I was feeding them this morning I saw on the label "feed only with cats foods intended for urinary tract health" SSSOOOOOO... what does that mean!? confused_cat
Am I only supposed to be supplementing with this food and not making it their primary nomz????
Maybe I over-analyzed the whole food thing. I dunno... ohmygod_smile
Thoughts??

Typically when you use a lower phosphorus food, you have a cat that has kidney problems, CRF chronic renal failure) or something along those lines. Then yes, you want phosphorus levels in the food under 250.

The goal for a diabetic cat is to feed less than 10% carbs and if the cat or any other cats in the household have kidney problems and you want to get one food for all - the Friskies Special Diet pate styles are a good option.

If there are not any kidney issues and you use this food, it is OK too. There is nothing wrong with it. I had a cat with kidney issues and everyone had to eat the special diet friskies in order to accommodate the diabetic, the kidney and the one without issues.

Ok. Great. As of now neither has had kidney issues. They seem to like it ok, I know they like FF better...or even other flavors of Friskies.. I'll mix it up for them.
Thanks!!!! :-D

Good idea - as you don't want them to get bored and stop eating.

Remember to use fish flavors sparingly - due to the mercury content in fish. Typically recommend no more than one or two times per week.
