Is it ok to leave canned food in the fridge once opened

for something longer, I think I would push the food out of the can.... open both ends with a can opener, then put the roll into a glass covered container... I could then cut slices off the roll for feeding. I like glass because plastic can absorb stuff and maybe bacteria over time, even it washed in a dishwasher.
ETA:
at times, I put food into a glass container so that I could mix water and other items into the food, so I guess I would say a glass container is good for any leftovers and eliminates reaction with the can and can's inner coating.

After Grayson was diagnosed, I was putting his bowl in a Ziploc bag - went through A LOT of bags!!! Since then, I've picked up a 3-pack of (cereal size) Pyrex bowls w/ lids. For larger cans, it works well, or, if one cat doesn't finish, I just put a post-it w/ their name on the lid and pop in the fridge. Also DW safe. And because is the heavy-duty pyrex glass, when Moochie Pooch knocks his off the counter (which he does w/ ALL his empty food bowls to get my attention), they haven't shattered or even cracked! Makes my life easier. And I don't have to keep washing my dishes before I can eat! :lol:
As for the window of time on refrigerated food, I don't usually go beyond 2.5 days. In the can, with a lid, 1 day.

Some metal pet food cans contain a BPA lining which can leach into the food :shock: Some companies are using BPA-free cans now. I know that Nature's Variety and Weruva are two BPA-free brands. Check the company web site for the brands of foods you are feeding. If there's nothing there, call and ask. To be on the safe side, place the remaining food in a glass or plastic container with a lid and store that in the fridge. Leftover canned food stored in the fridge is good for a few days.

When I was feeding EVO out of the 13 oz cans the food would be in fridge for 3 or even 4 days sometimes, and it was always fine. It's just meat, so if it smells spoiled you might not want to feed it, but a cat will be able to smell if it's spoiled better than you will, and just not eat it. Cats can actually eat meat that's gone longer than that and be fine since their digestive systems are geared towards eating raw meat.
