They still snored after!! Just the breathing and eating improved. Ted was so funny when he came back. He dashed around the whole house smelling everything for hours. This was only a couple of hours after surgery and I was told to keep him calm. :) His nose must have been so blocked he had never smelt anything!!

Hope Iris soon improves. The worst is behind her.

So thankful the surgery went well! Fritz is sending kitties hugs, prayers and scritches to baby Iris:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am so relieved and happy Iris is going home today!! Prayers for a speedy, complete recovery.

That sounds very familiar. Iris also snored very loudly - I was always impressed that her little body could produce so much noise. I really hope that her siblings will recognize her without all those sniffly and snorkely sounds.

This does make me wonder if my civvie Frankie actually has a polyp, too. I've mentioned her before - she's almost always snuffly and we also attributed it to the bad URI she had as a teeny baby (the infection damaged her eyes, so we assumed it got her sinuses, too). She doesn't snore steadily, but sometimes she stretches and produces a snore that rivals DH's! However, Frankie is almost 15 now, and has had this all her life, so...needless to say, we will let things lie, since it doesn't seem to interfere with the biggies like eating and breathing.

Anyway...big hugs and scritches to sweet little Iris!

We're back home! And I should have videotaped the happy reunion between Iris and her siblings. She was so happy to see everyone and was rubbing all over my other cats. Her face already looks a lot better, so they are pretty hopeful that the Horner's syndrome will resolve completely over time.

I also have some really gross pictures of her polyp. I don't even know how she was able to breathe and swallow with that thing in her throat. I'd be happy to post them if anyone else would like to feel a bit nauseous. ;)

I have pictures of Ted's polyp somewhere in the loft. One of it down his throat and one once it was removed. I must be weird too as I would be interested in seeing it too.

That's such great news; sounds like the best possible outcome from a bad situation. Glad she's breathing easier and hope the Horner's resolves quickly and fully.

I've been offline for a while, so I missed all the excitement. I am so very happy to hear that they got that nasty thing out of Iris and she is already feeling better. We always knew she was a little fighter, and I'm sure she's going to fight her way back from this, too. She looks so beautiful, one would never know there is anything wrong. Love how protective Mandarin looks!

Sending truckloads of healing vines for our little Iris and some :bighug:s for you, Christina. I'm sure you're not only relieved, but exhausted!

And for the boys - show's over now. Time to get back to work. No more stinky pinkies!!

I am just getting updated and so glad she is home and snuggling with Mandarin, ( a great phot0) Lots of vines you way and if you haven't all ready checked into Care Credit card for medical and dental with no interest if paid in 6 months, you might want to. I have a running tab and fortunately I haven't had to pay interest yet, ( fingers crossed)

It was big enough that it filled up more than half of her throat and then extended into her right ear far enough that she ended up with a burst ear drum. I still can't believe that, other than her breathing difficulties, she has been a happy, social kitty through all of this.
Oh the poor thing! I'm so glad it's been taken care of now!

Christina - I haven't been on the board for a week or so, just seeing this - oh my I'm so relieved to read this thread and especially the happy ending
I hope I will be able to see her in person soon. Such great news!!!! Anxious to see how she will really start thriving now without that nasty thing in her head (I"d like to see the photos)

Iris had a good first night at home. She slept soundly right where she has always slept since the day I took her home: on my pillow, right next to my face. The only thing that was different was the fact that she didn't snore - she just purred softly.

You can definitely see the Horner's syndrome though and you can tell that she doesn't quite feel like her normal self. I was able to do her ear meds and eye meds without a problem. She put up a bit of a fight for the Bupe and the Pred, but nothing like what she usually does.

I'll post an update on the boys once I get back from my volunteer shift at the shelter.

What a wonderful report.....it sounds like she is doing fabulously well considering how traumatic that surgery must have been for her. What a strong, inspiring little lady!

I hear ya on those vet bills....between our sweet Petey's unexpected cancer, and all of Trix's issues, we literally could have bought a car with this year's vet bills. I hope we ALL get a breather next year!
