Dpending on where you buy it from online, it may be as much as the manufacturer's suggested price of $79.95 for the meter kit. Ouch 50 test strips for cats is just over $30.
A Human blood glucose meter works just as well and costs much less. Plus, you can easily buy test strips at any Human pharmacy. iPet test strips are not sold in any store so you'd you have to buy them online well before you run out of strips to allow for shipping time.
Did you run a control test on your meter? That may determine if your meter is working properly. The instruction booklet should have info about control testing and where to buy the solution.
Try a different blood glucose meter, too. WalMart's ReliOn brand of meters is popular with people here. It's not very expensive to buy, either.
The meter we have right now is the ReliOn. It gave up two different numbers after two tests, one right after the other. 478 was the first test, the second was 347 and it also errored twice too. I am not trusting this meter. we have been getting consistently high preshot readings over 500 every day.
Unfortunately the Maxima meter which I use is being phased out, but they have a newer, model the Infinity, available from Hocks, meter and 50 strips cost $20. Strips are $16.50 for 50. I talked to the company and from something he said I believe they also make the iPet. I have always had good results with our meter.
