Mary and her non diabetic sister Rhoda have just arrived from Los Angeles. They are still s little scared and hissy so I'm not going to stress out Mary any more at the moment by trying to do a glucose test.

Mary is 7 or 8 years old has been diabetic for about 2 years and appears to havd some diabetic neuropathy. Shd is on 4.5 units Lantus BID and eating wet DM and free feeding on dry DM. Once I've started home glucose testing I'll start converting them to wet food and will get Mary started on Methyl B12.

No smoochies yet :-)

Welcome to the site; I hope everyone settles in nicely.
Once the dry food is eliminated, you'll be able to see the real insulin need, is any!

Have you tried methylcobalamine B12 for the neuropathy? I realize that the cat is new to you, so just putting th suggestion out for you. It does seem to help with neuropathy. The pills dissolve in water, so I put about a teaspoon of warm water in the wet food, dissolve the pill, and mash in the food. My cat loves it.

Yes, I'm going to try the methyl B12. I'm going to check out thd Vitamin Shoppe ones or the Zobaline one made just for cats. Anyone have any other suggestions?

just read the non-medicinal ingredients on ALL labels for meds you give to know what's really inside.

OK that explains why there are some complaints on the Amazon ratings by people saying they'd ordered the cat version but received thd human one. I'm going to try the Vitamin Shoppe one and Venita has recommended their one she uses for other DCIN cats.

Good News!!! :-D :-D I just called LifeLink (I live close by) and they said that it was an error on the website and that Zobaline for Cat is definitely still available! The web site should be fixed by now

Oh that is good. I picked up the VS one this evening and mixed it in the wet food for Mary's evening meal. I tasted one of the pills and it wasn't super strong tasting so that is good.
