Thankfully Ron loves a nice suprise because instead of a chocolate bunny, he got himself a beautiful young black cat  She all black except she has four white eyelashes over one eye.
Ebony was surrendered to the CT Humane Society the day after Thanksgiving and had been living at the HS since. She was very sweet to staff, but cranky with visitors, it took a long time before someone noticed the amount of water she was drinking.
Confirmed FD beginning of April, CT HS contacted Venita (DCIN) and while my emotions have been raw after losing my handsome little man Tucker, I could not let this young lady stay at HS, they do not treat FDs there, but were kind enough to contact DCIN before, well... it's the humane society, we all know what happens to FDs there. They agreed to switch her to all canned until I could get down there on Friday.
Leaving the facility took time, many folks wanted to say their goodbyes, one lady could not stop crying, I promised that I would love Ebony and take good care of her.
Ebony is staying upstairs in the foster room for the time being. Testing has been difficult. She is frightened by the new location, sounds, smells and people. She's in protection mode, so I had to make the decision, hometest immediately (ouch - got a few bites from her and lots of scratches) or get to know her and be friends with her first. I don't recommend giving insulin without hometesting, but did decide in this case it was best.
The one number I could get yesterday was 326. She is getting 1/2U Lantus BID and today her water intake is much less than Friday. She went from almost two cups friday to about 1/4 cup today. Her appetite is good, she's eating DM script that was donated, and today started on some FF with forti flora on it. Although, I think she preferred the bacon and eggs that Ron gave her this morning, and the chicken he gave her last night.
She heads to the vet on Tuesday, shelter bloodwork shows the following:
....................normal range
ALT 221 High (10-100)
Magnesium 1.1 Low (1.5-2.5)
Sodium 144 Low (145-158)
WBC 19.8 High (3.5-16.0)
Eosinophils 1782 High (0-1000)
T4 0.6 Low (0.8-4.0) euthyroid sick
Glucose 446
Urine had some crystals but it was a natural catch, so I wont worry about that yet.
