insulin with out eating?

Hello everyone.
Hope I'm in the corect location, never used a message board. Also don't have much time to keep checking so if it looks like I'm not responding to your answers it's not that I'm am inconciderate.Rushing through this and probably have some spelling era's.
My cat Cuda is about 16 or so and has been on insuline for many years. She resently went dangerusly low with her #'s. Low 30's. Got all most back to normal. New vet , new insuline. Question is yesterday her #'s went up to 280's to low 300 range with no food. She this morning was 285.
I haven't given insulin for a while per order of vet. If #'s are ok she didn't wont me to give shot. I did give here a 1/2 dose yesterday but #'s went up.
This morning she didn't eat or drink ,can I still give insuline to help #'s come down?????

What type of insulin?
What type of foods are you feeding?
Have you tried some tuna?
I would not give insulin if it were Bean. Too high is better than 1 min. too low, as you know!

Cuda is on Lantus now and eats Friskeis. I know not the best food. She is doing 100 % better on Lantus.
I have 3 other cats and very hard to seporate in feeding. Have used M/D but none of the cats will eat it. I even mixed food to start here off. Then she wouldn't eat the other food for a couple days.

I did get through to my vet. She had me giver her a unit of insulin. She said with here #'s for the past few weeks it would be ok.
I do have a shop Iwork out of at home so it's easy for me to check on her.
She wouldn't eat anything but vet said very little bland chicken breast to get anything in her. It worked.
 
I would check her about every 2 hours to make sure she stays high enough to be out of the danger range.
Keep us posted, please.
BTW, lots of friskies foods are ok for diabetic kitties...what kinds?
My girls eat f.feast and friskies, and petsmart brand - all low carb.
 
She tested at 7:00am today 281 then 9:00am 301 She was 308 last night at 11:00pm
Had given her a shot at 9:30am today and she was 162 at 12:30pm.
She still looks bad ,shivers or shakes and hasen't move from here spot.
I give them Friskies and F. Feast.

I tested her at 3:00 and she was at 55. Couldn't get her to eat cat food so made her chicken breast. Always love"s that.
Also per order of vet get food in her and finger full of Karo on gums.
So far she is OK. Will keep checking #'s.
