Insulin still good?

Skittles has fallen out of remission, hopefully it's only because of his infected tooth and I can get him back into it. And I posted a post already about needing help on remembering everything so please look for that post and help me. But my question right now is ... is my insulin still good? I got it a few days before he went into remission last Christmas, so that would have been in December 2015. It still looks good, nice and clear And the expiration date on the bottle is 4/2017. I did use it a few times when I first got it. I haven't given him any yet, vet wanted me to wait until he his appt today and at his appt the infected tooth was discovered so he is now on medication for that. And his vet said to give him one unit if his BG reached 350. Which right now he is at 349 but it's only been a little over a hour since he ate and I'm scared to give him 1 unit since I'm going to bed soon and won't be able to see how he is handling getting insulin again.

So #1. Insulin still good?
#2. Should I go ahead and give him some?
And #3 please read my other post ( need refresher in title )

I would try it if:
- When it unmixed the liquid is clear and the particles at the bottom are white
- When mixed it mixes easily with no clumps.

I have uses N insulin that has been pierced for over two years

Both of what you suggested, the insulin is. I actually called his vet and they said they thought it would still be good and once I gave it to him, his numbers came down really good. I have them posted on his SS. In 10 mins I am testing him for his PM dose and if he is good then he won't get it. He actually has only gotten 1 unit so far ( that was Thursday morning) because his numbers have been between 124 to 167. I really hope I didn't just jinx us LOL!
