Insulin side effects??

Well, my baby came out of remission unfortunately. I started her back on .5 units of Prozinc earlier this month (Dec), and just upped it to 1 unit this week. She has started having some loose, smelly stools now. I've never known her to have those in the 13 yrs I've had her. The only thing different going on is being back on insulin. I'm feeding her the same- low carb wet, plus a little of Dr Elseys low carb dry.
Can insulin cause side effects such as this?

If the insulin is new I would not expect insulin to be the cause. One thing to consider is that some illness may have caused the going out of remission and is also causing the loose, smelly stools.

I had the same thought as Larry. I generally suggest that if a cat falls out of remission, make a vet appointment. Blood glucose numbers may be telling you that there's something going on medically. An illness puts a stress on your cat's system which may cause a subsequent rise in blood glucose numbers.

Silly question but do you still have your meter? Nigel didn't just tolerate car rides, he'd jump in and then prance around the vet's office. No matter what his numbers went bonkers at the vet so maybe you could do a few curves before taking her in. It's not the insulin.
