Hello:
I am new to the forum - asking for an advice.

My cat has diabetes for a year now. He's been receiving two shots of Lanthus daily.
He seems be doing well on the dose of 3 units each morning and evening.

Suppose we leave for a weekend 2-3 days. Would it be OK to give him just one shot for 2-3 days (arranging a cat-sitting person 1/day is much easier)?
If once/day, should he still receive 3 units per shot, or 6 units?

Please your advice is greatly appreciated.

Keeping the same 3 units twice daily is very prefered.
If you go to one per day the dose is still 3 unit but only once daily.

I agree, if you only can give one shot a day while you are gone, then keep it at 3 units. If you increase it, you risk your cat becoming hypoglycemic. It is better that your cat's BG levels are high for a short period of time than dropping too low even once.

Do you hometest? Is this something your sitter could also do?
