I was interested in feedback from anyone using insulin pensM I currently use BD syringes with the half unit marks. I was thinking if I use disposable pens it would cheaper since I end up throwing out a lot of Lantus left in the bottle. Has anyone found that pens can accurately measure half unit doses? I know there is also several brands of refillable insulin pens. One brand has half unit marks but I can't remember which one.? :-)

You're probably thinking of the new Novo Nordisk NovaPen Junior: http://press.novonordisk-us.com/index.php?s=43&item=184 and http://www.novonordisk.com/diabetes/pub ... efault.asp Only NovoNordisk's insulin penfills work with this pen (Levemir, NovoLog)

Lantus users use either the SoloStar pens or OptiClick cartridges with insulin syringes. They're more cost effective than the 10ml bottle and you are throwing less insulin away each month.

The Levemir cartridges that the Junior pen uses are not available in the USA but you can order them from Canada. As sqeem3 said the disposable pens/cartridges are very frequently uses. You just use a standard insulin syringe to draw out the insulin at the end where the pen needles goes.
