Insulin left out for 3.5 hrs

To add to the wonderful day that we are having, I came home at lunch to retest Max and discovered that the ProZinc was sitting out on the counter. It has been out for 3.5 hrs. Is it still good or do I need to contact the vet and get more?

It should be okay unless it is super warm in your house. We generally say to use it - the only way to tell if it is bad if it develops some distinct floaties or stops working. But I am guessing it will be fine.

It should be fine. Just put it back in the fridge and you'll probably be good.

My understanding is that it's more an issue of light than of temperature. If it was in direct sunlight, it could be a problem. If that was the case, try a few days and see if you get markedly different numbers. If so, you may need to replace. Others here, including myself, have left it out for 4-8 hours with no effect.

I always keep my bottle in the original box, and after I read about the sunlight, that seemed like an even better idea!

You know....usually I do put it right back in the box, but for some reason this morning, I did not. It was by a window but it has been overcast today. Maybe it will be just fine. Guess we will see.

I have left mine out for 8 hours before---more than once, without any negative effects! It should be fine.

Sandy, I am so glad you asked this question. I did the same thing this morning and felt like a complete and utter bonehead! Fortunately, I did have sense enough to put it back in the box. I feel so much better having read the responses!
