I need to order LANTUS. I have heard that I can get it from canada pharmacy for much less. Should I be ordering the VIALS or the PENS?? I want to be able to extract the insulin (2 units at a time) using my own syringes. Can anyone explain which I would order?? Thanks!!

You would want to order the 5 pack box of pens (5 X 3ml). Each pen hold 300 units worth of insulin so each pen would last you about 75 days with your current dosage. You would use a regular syringe to withdraw the insulin so you do not want the special pen needles that are commonly used with the pens. All the pens would be kept in the fridge, including the opened one.

Here's all the info on buying Lantus from Canada

You can order either the vial or the pens but the pens are the best deal. We all use regular insulin syringes and pull the insulin out of the pens instead of using the special needles that humans use with the pens

If your vet writes the script for a vial, you can still use it...You can call Marks in Canada and ask them to send you the pens instead

Thanks for all the help!!! So the vet needs to write the prescription for Lantus (Solostar) PENS which are sold as a box of 5 x 3ml PENS (not cartridges)?? ($144.99 plus shipping)
And then I have to email or fax the prescription to Marks in Canada?? Correct??

He can write it for either the vial or the pens...Insulin is OTC in Canada, so if he writes for the vial, you can just call Marks and ask them to send you the pens instead and they will.

Your vet can fax the script directly to Marks or give it to you for you to email/fax/mail yourself

And the shipping on insulin is $25 ....the only time it's only $19.95 is if you just buy one pen
