I have lantus for my cat, starting first dose today, I was wondering how I store it. I know it is in the fridge once it is opened but is there certain way to store the vial?
thanksYes, we just use the regular insulin syringes like you're using with the vial and pull it out of the pen....we don't use the special needles that humans use with the pens
Here's some pictures you can show your vet if it'll help

ok thank you I am feeding her fancy feast classic mostly, I do give her the DM because I still have some from the vet that I boughtwhen you first start on Lantus, it takes 5-7 days to "fill the depot" ....the "depot" is kind of like a "timed release"...for those first several days, some of each shot "goes to work" during that cycle, and the rest goes into filling the depot.....the depot then "releases" some of the stored insulin back into the body
You don't usually see the full effects of the dose until the depot is full and is releasing the correct amount back into the body
There's lots of great info on Lantus in the "stickys" at the top of the Lantus Forum. I encourage you to read over them and start posting there..You'll get the benefit of lots of experience from others that also use Lantus!
Also, it'll help if you'll go ahead and add some information to your "signature"....If you look below our comments, there's information like our name/cats name, age, sex, date of diagnosis, type of insulin, type of meter, type of food, other health problems, etc....as well as the link to our spreadsheets. Having all that information there keeps everyone from having to ask you the same questions over and over again
What are you feeding Gato?
its ok, It is almost gone and I just mix it with the fancy feastDo you know you can take the DM back? It's guaranteed ...you can just say your cat stopped eating it and refuses to touch it anymore
I know it's expensive and there's a lot better things to spend your money on!
