I am still feeling very unsure of dosing and the chaos of life is just making it very hard to get nadir readings, I know this is crappy suck and we need to get better. I know. I just need a little guidance on whether I should hold the dose a couple more days before increasing or not because I am scared we are hurting him.

He weighs 15 pounds. Is I think mostly on wet at this point (we have other cats who free feed, and the only chow bowl he ever goes to has been switched to low carb food). He is perkier and also asking for food a lot.

Here is Chianti's chart. I thought his nadir would be good today after finally getting that 150 the other night. But now I am wondering if he is going into a bounce again. We are using relion, all numbers but the first two are on that, those were at the vet on an alphatrak with blood from his leg.

So, hold the dose, increase? He is only letting my husband test him at this point and he works. Any relaxed input is greatly welcomed.

Hi

I just set you a request for permission to view his spreadsheet as it looks like you don't have it set to share on the web. If you can either reset the permissions on it or grant me permission to view it I would be happy to take a look and give you my opinion.

Yay! We have success or at least I can see it. I would take him up again as even when you are getting mid-cycle tests in he is still pretty much high and flat.

But I would only go up .25u instead of a full .5 He's getting nice yellows and it looks like maybe even a sprinkling of blue, so you may want to keep going up but in smaller and smaller steps as you fine tune his dose.

Thank you so much for your input. I really appreciate it.

Do you think it's ok at this point to focus on getting the night nadirs? That one is the easiest for us to get at this point until he tolerates me testing him. Right now he's been cooperating dh and seeking me for comfort so I'd like to wait a while longer until he gets it in his darn kitty head that this is his new normal. We can plan on doing curves on the weekend too.

If the evening nadir is easier for you guys to get then go for that one. Whichever works the easiest for you to grab. :-D Plus most cats do run lower at night so that could be a valuable piece of information. :thumbup

If you are planning on running a curve this coming weekend I would either start the dose increase tonight so you have any New Dose Wonkyness out of the way by this weekend or hold your current dose until then and see what it shows. Personally I doubt looking at the spot checks that it will show much at his current dose other than he is high and flat, but my own cats have fooled me on more than one occasion. They are afterall, still cats.. ohmygod_smile

Thank you again so much for your input and kindness.

Do you have any tips for measuring the .25 unit? I'm searching on here just didn't know if there is some technique that makes it easier.

Dh didn't whine about having trouble dosing so I'm guessing it went ok. Now we wait. Chianti has started fighting the injection, I think because it is now stinging when it goes in but he won't cooperate to inject it slowly. There was lots of growling and scratching last night.
