Any advice? One of the ferals that I have been feeding over the last year apparently was in a fight or something possibly early last week and is hurt. It looks like his rear left hip is dislocated. For the past 2 mornings I have been trying to intice him into the trap I borrowed, but he is scared. he's a bit of a fraidy cat to begin with. the trap is lined with piddle pads, cat nip and a trail of dry to the bowl of tuna with a little rescue remedy and forta flora. it is covered with towels but he sees me carry it from the trunk of the car. He is getting better every day, but it is healing wrong. He needs help and he needs to be neutered. His Ba*** are getting very big or maybe there is another issue back there.

any advice? I have 2 more mornings to try, and let me tell you, on Friday if I can't get him in there I am not going to shoo one of the others away (there are 3 others that need to be fixed as well; the fact that he is not in this area by himself might be part of the difficulty).

Is he going in at all?

You could try calling animal control or the humane society to see if they have suggestions or could help. Or your vet?

CARE Feline TNR has loaned me a trap (and I had planned on donating the deposit I left on the trap) and I have been trying to get him over the past two mornings. I won't leave the trap out unattended, for several reasons (that's not what you are supposed to do anyway) but the most important one being there are other cats int he area and I want the right one! :-D
Well, his twin bro needs to be neutered, his mom and girlfriend (especially the girlfriend) need to be spayed.

I have been talking with the vet's office - that is where he will go if I get him. My dad's response last night on the phone was "your vet will help him for free?" (No, Dad). I am "down" $80 at this point and would like to get him in!

I think what I am going to do tomorrow is take my medium sized plastic pet carrier, in case he might get in there. I caught Dallas with it, but Dallas was a "stray" that was dumped (again not neutered) where as Sydney was born on the property of my old boss/office and has never been in a home. his twin is more open to me and let's me pet him, but Sydney will do the occasional leg rub but no touching please. Like I said he's a fraidy.

Any thoughts would be appreciated on those experienced with trapping. Prayers and Pixie dust (as we say at my other job) are welcome/appreciated too!

Sending prayers and pixie dust for you!! I hope that you can get him today!!

Ferals look for cover, so they aren't exposed. You may want to set up a sheltered area in which you can place the trap or carrier, yet be able to monitor.

I have managed to get a few of them using sardines in spring water as a lure. I sure hope that you can catch him.

The best thing to do is take everything out of the trap, pee pads, uncover it and make it as plain as possible. Just put the food and cat nip in it. They need to be able to see right through it or they get scared. Believe me I have trapped many ferals. Don`t be picky about who you get in the trap right now. If you have others that need to get fixed, go ahead and get them if they get into the trap it will make it easier later to get the one you need to get as once they get trapped they won`t go near it again.
You might need to purchase your own trap, I finally did, I now have about 3.
The best ones are

These do not snap shut, they just gently close and do not scare the crap out of the cat, also they have a door you can access at the other end to feed or whatever. The worst are the Havahart that snap shut and scare the cat. I had a cat with a horrible abcess on the side of his face and I finally did get him and he got treated and neutered and went to the rescue.
Best of luck to you, will be watching for updates.

Ok, so I bought some Popeye's chicken as recomended and will reheat tomorrow morning a little bit. Will remove all stuff from trap - the one I have borrowed is a traditional one. I will also take my carrier. i really want to catch Sydney since he's injured. I have to work at Disney on Saturday and Sunday (I work 7 days a week) so if I can't get hom Thursday or Friday, it won't happen. i want to help him, but if he doesnt cooperate, I cannot continue to do this. I have no free time since I work 7 days and I am already behind in time at my FT job because I have come late to work for the last 2 days. Can you tell I am frustrated?
