This may have been posted before but after 3 1/2 years of giving our kitty insulin, it is getting harder to find good spots to inject her. The skin on the back of her neck is scabby and getting tough and is harder to push the needle in. And she doesn't like that we have to feel around for a different spot. Is there any other good place to inject that will still let the insulin do its' job? Thanx!

I remember seeing this image one day and it might prove useful for you. I do not have any experience injecting any place besides the scruff so hopefully someone who does shoot other places will comment!

have had good success injecting anywhere BUT the scruff -- anywhere from shoulder to just above his flank -- left side in the morning, right side at night, not far off the backbone -- wherever I find a good fold of skin when I pull the skin up, I try to alternate near shoulders, in the middle, above the flank -- use the grab-skin-and-roll technique, find it works better than "tenting" -- he won't tolerate shots between above-flank and base of tail, but if he's eating, all I get is a quick growl or yip, and normally it's when I grab the skin and NOT when the needle goes in .. I usually ruffle his fur both before pulling on skin and afterwards, he seems to like it

I like that drawing there. That's what I need. Although my wife thinks it would hurt around the abdomen, I say it can't hurt any worse that trying to find a clean spot on the scruff after 3 1/2 years of shots. I usually rub her fur where I pull the needle out from and she seems to like it.

Yea, I was really surprised how tolerant my cat was of getting shots all the time. Luckily the insulin needles seem pretty thin so it couldn't hurt them that much. I guess your best route is try out new areas so you can begin to have a wider selection to rotate through so no one area becomes overly tough.

My cat usually gets his shots near the abdomen. He usually doesn’t flinch or give any sign he feels it. I don’t need to restrain him at all. I use such a large area, I don’t have problems with injection site sores or scarring. Good luck!

My wife diddles around too much trying to find a spot and Snickers gets aggravated. When she sees me with the needle she starts purring because I pinch and shoot just that quick. Then she goes back to sleep. I will try the abdomen when I have to do the shot.
