I have 2 sisters, Margaret and Julia, both almost 12 yrs old. Margaret is my diabetic. For the first time since we've had them and we got them when they were 8 weeks old, a cat went somewhere outside of the litter box. The box (a big one) is in the master bath and has been for almost 7 years. Just tonight, one cat and we don't know who, went beside the toilet in the other bathroom. It was yellowish but clear. I remember years ago our old cat did that but it had a tinge of blood. We went right to the vet and he had an infection. Apparently it was his way of telling us. My issue is two-fold. Money is realllllly tight right now and I can't really afford the vet and even if I could, I don't know who should go. Margaret has been OTJ since July 2009 and her BG tonight was 72. Julia (civvie) was 94. I was hoping that would tell me something. I'm not sure what I can do. Obviously I want to take care of it and makes sure no one is ill. Neither one is acting any differently. It may (and I strongly say may) have happened before the box was cleaned this afternoon but I can't be sure. Do I act on this one incident or take a wait and see approach? Any help is appreciated.
you have to go through the master bedroom. Julia tries to help Mom make the bed and sometimes it's easier to close the door and make the bed in half the time rather then have her help. Otherwise the door is always open for them to come and go. If they couldn't get to their bathroom they may have done the next best thing and used the other bathroom. There isn't really room in there to have a litter box otherwise we would put one there. It would probably be okay if it was just us and we were used to it. However, when we have company it would have to be moved and that may confuse the cats which we don't want. We're still keeping an eye on them but I think it will be fine. Julia just claimed an empty box from Amazon a few minutes ago and Margaret is headed for the couch. Oh the difficult life of a cat. :lol:
