Today's numbers are a bit higher than yesterday's. It will be interesting to see what he gives me tonight. As of +7 he hasn't reduced by 50% of AMPS  BUT, he didn't bounce too badly from yesterday's lower numbers so I guess I should feel like we are still making progress. Right?

I think it looks better, Bobbi. More blues than you've seen and a longer surf in the cycle in good numbers.. If he doesn't drop to green at nadir, I think I'd give it one more cycle and increase by 0.25 again, on a cycle you can monitor. My thinking is that if it is insulin resistance and he has gotten used to these higher ranges, we want to break through that.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks Sue!

Couldn't agree more, Sue!:) I was thinking about that this morning when I was looking over Bubba's SS; trying a little bump-up in his dose tomorrow morning ... (Seems he's been running a little higher @ AMPS last couple of days - and you'll get a better night's sleep tonight that way, too!;))

Boy, Bubba sure is a good "mouser" out there in the great outdoors, isn't he?

I never thought I would be able to snatch a mouse out of my cat's mouth before diabetes DX. Luckily, he brings back his catch and I see him going past the French door with it hanging out of his mouth and Forrest tagging closely behind. I trade them the mouse for two little zero carb treats.

Let's just hope that's not his 2nd or 3rd mouse that he's bringing back to you ...
I hear you. I'm hoping too. I've tried keeping him inside to see if the numbers were lower and they were higher! I think from frustration and aggravation. and not getting any exercise. Getting ready to test him now so we shall see. Fingers and paws.

Yes, I'd hold that dose tonight. Get mid-cycle test in, too.

ETA: I'd go for a +4, at least.
okay, will do. I 2nd guess myself because the way the insulin stayed on board till now. Yes,I will get a +4 and a +7 just because my body is starting to like no sleep,I say with dripping sarcasm.

Where is the "unlike" button? I hear you! Bubba boy is grounded tonight and tomorrow AM so I can get him to the vet to do pre-cleaning blood work. It scares me that the cleaning could screw up any momentum I might gain with the no feeding and no insulin the morning of. Gotta talk to Dr.Vet about that.

Depending on what Bubba gives you tonight (@ nadir) & at AMPS tomorrow, you may still want to be ready to give do that little dose increase in the morning. Guess we'll just have to see ...

Okay, hope Rachel will be awake and have her coffee sans fly by then. Just in case I don't know what to do.

I must admit it was that worry that was making me hesitant to have Bat's teeth cleaned, but any temporary loss of momentum will likely be balanced out by what we gain as a result of getting kitty mouths healthy. Am embarrassed to admit that it never occurred to me to take my cat in for a dental cleaning, not in all these years!
(Where's that moron icon when you need one?) But then ... no vet ever mentioned the need for it, either!

Not your fault, you didn't get advised. I did and ignored and I was a dental assistant. Where is the mo-mo icon???

If Bubba doesn't drop more than 50% of his PMPS# @ nadir tonight and you have at least a nice yellow like your PMPS at AMPS-time tomorrow, you could go ahead with the slight increase because you are around to monitor.

But if you happened to not hit 200 on your first AMPS test - &, say, you didn't get anywhere near there (I mean in the 190-200 range) until after stalling & retesting, then I'd probably hold the dose to the same as what you gave him tonight. (I'd imagine you'd probably be okay to shoot his current dose if he's really close to 200 @ AMPS because you are around to monitor him frequently during the day.)

(Did all that make sense?) But ... that said, you hold the syringe: It's your kitty/your decision. You know where your own comfort zone is ...

Ha! Ok, Bobbie ... you win!:D

Makes sense and thanks for that explanation. To play Devil's Advocate, what it, he is under 180 and I stall and retest 3 times, ( 15minute stalls) and he wouldn't come up to at least 180 would I give him something? And how much? This is where I don't have a clue..........

Ha! I can see you're not gonna make this easy on me, Bobbie! :p Let's see what he gets @ +4, then I'll tackle your question (you little threshold-pusher, you:D) ... because how he drops tonight will determine how I want to answer that one!;)

Sounds good, just worrying in advance, LOL!

Oh, I know that, Bobbie - I think you're probably a lot like me: Always want to "Be Prepared" for every possible scenario! (What's funny about this? I got kicked out of Girl Scouts!:D)

ETA: Gah, you would not believe the #s of typos I'm having to go back into my posts to correct.:banghead:
I either need new glasses ... or a new brain.)

I got kicked out of Brownies too!!!!! OMG how funny is that!! What did you do? I wouldn't hold hands during the beginning song; I was too cool LOL

My friend Debra & I were kicked out of Junior Girl Scouts together; the Scout Leader caught us taking a break outside ... smoking a Marlboro! (We thought we were pretty cool back then, too! A couple of little rebels ...)

Bobbie, I think it would probably be best to steer him with a little bit of his regular food now - say about 2/8 of FF (0.75 oz.), then retest in about 15 min. after that. Would rather not wait to get a +6

ETA: My reasoning: He's dropping pretty fast now.

Sounds like a plan, he'll love that. I was thinking that maybe I should give him a little something.

Only brought him up to 77 after 1.4 can of FF. Looks like I need to stay awake longer..... how often should I keep checking him?
Is that 1/4 can of FF? If so, please give him another 1/4 can & recheck in 15.

ETA: Might want to give him a little of the stuff that has gravy in it, instead (medium-carb).

I just gave him some medium carb about 1/4 can, hard to gauge cause that gravy won't stay put when you try and divide the can, LOL. I will retest at 11:36 EST

No, I didn't see medium carb post. I have Fancy Feast Medley, I think that would be considered medium carb.
If you already gave him the regular FF, you might want to add 1/8th can of the Medley to what you already gave him, as that should help him rise faster.

okay 89. Safe for me to go to bed at this point? Oh tip of the night: Don't test kitty in your favorite easy chair if they are a head flinger after the prink...ugh
Oh, bummer. (Wanna knkow how many times I've wiped blood droplet splatter form my white kitchen chairs (not to mention having to "spot clean" clothes) from my little head-flinger?
Hate to do this to you, but would really like just one more test before you hit the hay. (Sorry!) Just in case ... (ya never know with these goofy kitties ...)

That's cool. In 15 again?
