In Need of Lantus//Tucson

Hi everyone,

Two weeks ago we purchased a new vial of Lantus using our discount card and it was dropped on the floor almost immediately. We could not use our discount card again, so we’ve had to use the Vetsulin we had on hand. We test Nick regularly (SS needs updating!) and we are quite literally desperate for insulin, even just a few days worth. Does anyone in the Tucson area in Arizona have some we could borrow? Thank you

It looks like Diane linked you to the post in the Supply Closet. You may be able to find someone selling Lantus on Craig's List or on NextDoor in your area.

@Chris & China (GA) is the admin on the FDMB Facebook page. There may be someone in the FB group who has Lantus.

I'm not sure if anyone passed along that the pens are at much less of a risk of breaking than the vials if dropped. (The pens are in a plastic casing.) In addition, if price is an issue, Semglee is a biosimilar (i.e., a generic) for Lantus. It is much less expensive. If you call around, you may be able to find a pharmacy that will sell a single Lantus or Semglee pen. You would use the pen exactly the same way as a vial -- you draw the insulin through the rubber stopper at the end of the pen and don't use pen needles.

@jaybeth There's a post in the Supply Closet from Alex (who also posted in the FB group) that she has Lantus, syringes and some other supplies. She's in Tennessee I think but I think if she shipped it Priority mail (or overnight but that's about $25) it would get to you in a couple of days.

Thank you so much — I replied to her now and I’m also in contact with DCIN. We were able to find a pen near us!!
