In midst of First time curve

Okay. So I am going to do another curve on Friday. Gracie wants to eat every 2 to 2 1/2 hours. My vet has advised to feed only in the morning and evening on the test day. 1/2 3 oz. FF for each meal.
What to do all day when she is begging for food and staring at her eating area? Please define "a little food" and /or "snack".
With a curve, you should feed Gracie how you normally do since the purpose of it is to see what her numbers are like on a normal day for her. You only really need to withhold food 2 hours before shot time, that way you can be sure she her blood glucose is high enough for insulin without being influenced by food

Have you had the chance to set up a SS? If you need help, we can help you with that. It makes it much easier for us on the board to give advice.

As for feeding, the idea of feeding twice a day is old school and more geared towards insulins like Vetsulin. Feeding meals throughout the day is easier on the pancreas and keeps kitty happy. It's up to you how much you feed throughout the day but you want to feed the majority of food before nadir (or the lowest point of the cycle). Each cat's nadir will be differently but typically, with Lantus, it's at +6 or 6 hours after injection.

The more you test, the more you'll know and learn about how Gracie uses insulin in her body. Data gathering is very important when dealing with feline diabetes.

I will get the SS up tomorrow night. I have saved it to my Google docs/sheets. Going to work on it tomorrow.
When I did the curve yesterday, I fed her when she wanted and waited 2 hours for test. Maybe I fed too much? Should I just give 1/4 3 oz FF?

Unregulated cats may need more food at first because they're not able to properly metabolize what they are eating due to high blood sugar levels. It's really about the carb content that may drive numbers up so I would take good notes of what you feed, the carb content, and when you fed. Pretty soon, you'll have a good idea of how carbs affect Gracie. Some cats get a carb boost from LC (low carb), some don't get at all. Every cat is different.

Thanks for taking the time to set up your SS!

Is she a teeny tiny cat? Only 3 oz of food for the entire day? Seems like way too small an amount.

My little 7.5 pound civie gets about 5 to 5.5 oz of food a day. And she's not an unregulated diabetic that is starving!
