IMPORTANT question. Cat didn’t eat dinner

Hi.. newish at this. My cat did not eat dinner tonight. I think she is nauseous. She ate breakfast and her snack lunch. She is on .25 unit glargine. I gave it to her 45 minutes ago. I will continue to test her numbers tonight.
Should I feed her boiled chicken if she doesn’t want to eat? I don’t want to force feed her if she’s feeling yucky but I’m also worried because I gave her her shot.

Hi, welcome! Has she eaten since? Any idea why she is nauseous? You could try boiled chicken or a different food to see if she is just bored of her usual food.
The onset of glargine is usually 2 hours after the shot, though it can be earlier or later for some cats.
 
Is she eating only low carb canned food now? Looks like the change of diet has made a big difference to her blood sugar!

What stage CKD is she at? Many vets jump to prescription food even when there's really no need – both with diabetes and CKD. The only time a cat might need K/D is when they're in stage 4 or end stage CKD. Otherwise, you want to feed foods that are both low carb (for the diabetes) and low phosphorus (for the CKD). It used to be thought that a low protein diet is beneficial for cats with kidney disease but newer research shows that it's much more important to restrict phosphorus. That restricting protein at low levels of CKD just leads to muscle wasting. Treating the diabetes will in turn help the kidney disease by reducing the strain on the kidneys that diabetes causes.
 
Stage 2 and I’m so mad I listened to my vet about the prescription food. It’s the reason we are here I think now with the diabetes. She is a dry food junky and I think the wet food is making her tummy ache. I’m calling the vet tomorrow for nausea medicine. Poor thing. But so far she’s holding in the80’s tonight. It’s been a long night for me.
 
It’s a battle with her with this pate food. I’m giving her friskies and FF pate. I called the vet this morning to see about nausea medicine. I’m waiting for a call back. She stayed in the 80’s all night. Negative for ketones this morning. Definitely think it’s nausea from the food switch and it only happened twice at nighttime. She eats fine for morning and afternoon.
