I know I am doing the right thing, but Wow I will ge glad when the dental is over! I figure we have about 3 or 4 hours before calling it history.

Anyone ever had wine with cereal?!

I know exactly what you feel KIm, I was so nervous before our cats went in in April. All turned out well tho. You are def doin’ the right thing. Keep thinking positive, it’ll be over soon. I’ll be sending good vibes to you and Kitty today. (((((hugs)))))

Re: I'm nervous.....

How could you not be nervous?! But there isnevry reason to think it will be fine. Sending good vibes to both of you.

Re: I'm nervous.....

I was a total wreck the day of Harley's dental, I even headed to the clinic before they called, I sat at a restaurant 2 blocks away drinking coffee wishing it were wine so I could spring him the minute they called.

It's easy to say don't worry but it is such a releif to get them home.

Wrapping you and Ms. Kitty is calming, healing vibes.

Wow, listen to this.

We definitely made the right decision--not only was the tooth abscessed, the infection had moved to the bone. The vet had to remove three teeth in a row--the canine (abscessed), the one next to it (was shattered) and the next one (had a cavity). The vet saw no evidence of the infection in the nasal cavity, but said that would have been the next area compromised.

Kitty has seven stitches..ouch! She is awake and meowing--I could hear her in the background! For a little more good news--her kidney values had improved also. The last two blood test have shown marked improvements in her kidney values--just like Harley's are going to show next time! The vet attributes this to the sub qs--I have no idea, but I will take it!

She said her heart was strong and she woke up quickly.

She is on bupe and will go on Clindamycin for the infection.

They are monitoring her sugars and she suggested I leave her overnight for observation.

Once again, I owe you all. Because as I read about your trials, it alerts me to what I should look for in Kitty. I have read so much about dental issues and DM, that I have kept a look at Kitty's teeth--thus catching this ugly situation. The vet said this could have killed her, if we didn't do the dental.

I could feel the good vibes today coming from all of you--truly, you give me added inspiration to care for Kitty!

So, thanks for everything and hopefully she will recover nicely with no surprises. And maybe, just maybe this pain and infection has been an issue in my high dose Kitty and her bgs will come down!

I truly am going to have a glass of Wine with lunch!!!!

Tremendous news Kim. So glad Kitty came thru so well and that you caught this. Good on ya both!
(((((hugs)))))

AWESOME!!!! drinking24 Cheers to your glass of wine with lunch.

So good that you caught such a potentially harmful issue early and have corrected it. You and Ms. Kitty will have much smoother sailing now.

Sending get well soon vibes to Ms. Kitty.

what news! I am so glad that it was caught and you decided to go ahead with the dental! Kitty will feel so much better after this!!!!

So glad ms. Kitty came through the dental with flying colors. With the abcess and infection cleared up, she probably is going to feel so much better and may get better bgs.
Feel better soon, Kitty!

Yeah!! So glad to hear this news. I agree with Angela that the infection probably hasn't helped BG numbers. Am hoping Kitty feels much better soon!

Glad she came through that so well and really glad you caught it early! Poor kitty with 7 stitches. I know you will be glad to have her back home!

Thanks to Everyone for the well wishes!

I talked with the vet again tonight-- she said Kitty had a good afternoon. She ate 2 cans off FF this afternoon. Kitty's CRT was down to 1.7 from 2.3. She is giving Kitty naxel injections for the infection.

She gave her 4 units of PZ without testing her tonight. I am sure she will be ok-- but, I don't like that. The plan is for me to pick her up tomorrow. Hopefully there will be no surprises.

As relieved as I am that Kitty got some help before it was too late-- I feel bad tonight that everyone did not receive good reports today. I hope that things improve for all of our PZ cats. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for all.

Oh wow, so much big vet news today (are the planets in some weird alignment?!?). That is great that they found the problem & fixed her up, and really good you got prompted to go ahead with the dental. I'm sure she will be feeling better in a few days, and hopefully you will start seeing some better #s soon. I don't know if the A/Bs might make her run higher though - Bix ran higher after his dental for about a week I think, not sure if it was discomfort or A/Bs or what. Anyhow, day by day, wine glass by wine glass.

If I recall correctly, dentals often dislodge a lot of bacteria, so that's why they often make people who are immune compromised start on AB's before they get work done and why people are sent home with AB's after work is done. I'd guess that the work probably increases bacteria floating around in their systems, which would make BG run higher.
