Hi,
I hope you all don't mind my return. It's been a couple of years. I just got a call from the shelter I foster for because a diabetic kitty was turned in three days ago by a vet tech because her kitty is diabetic  . The staff said something about a new baby and the fact she makes too much noise (she hasn't made a peep in the few hours I've had her)
anyway...
She's 9yrs old. She's a bit overweight, and has a history of pancreatitis. She's been eating pretty crappy food up till now according to the vet records. The shelter sent her home with wellness core (canned) (i refused the dry) and I just tested her and she was 302. I was told to give her 2 units of Lantus... so I did.
Is there a good primer website on Lantus and the generally recommended protocols. If I remember correctly it is extremely different from the insulin I am used to.
I am hoping that getting her a stable environment on a low carb food she won't need anything, but I figure the chances of that happening quickly are pretty slim considering her history so I figure I better figure out what I'm doing
