Hi,

I hope you all don't mind my return. It's been a couple of years. I just got a call from the shelter I foster for because a diabetic kitty was turned in three days ago by a vet tech because her kitty is diabetic  . The staff said something about a new baby and the fact she makes too much noise (she hasn't made a peep in the few hours I've had her)

anyway...

She's 9yrs old. She's a bit overweight, and has a history of pancreatitis. She's been eating pretty crappy food up till now according to the vet records. The shelter sent her home with wellness core (canned) (i refused the dry) and I just tested her and she was 302. I was told to give her 2 units of Lantus... so I did.

Is there a good primer website on Lantus and the generally recommended protocols. If I remember correctly it is extremely different from the insulin I am used to.

I am hoping that getting her a stable environment on a low carb food she won't need anything, but I figure the chances of that happening quickly are pretty slim considering her history so I figure I better figure out what I'm doing :)

Welcome and congrats on the new foster baby!

Now when do we get to see pictures? Never can have too many cute kitty pictures here. :-D

She is really quite interesting, in that her nose and paw pads are black despite the fur around them being white

I need a new name for her

My cat Shadoe had lots of issues with pancreatitis, but since starting her with B12 shots, she has had no flares. it's really helped with her pancreas inflammation. She's much better now.

My cat Oliver is a brown tabby with white paws and his pads are also black.

Oh she is stunning!!! My tux twin Myrrdin and Duvessa both has white paws and their have some black paws, some pink pads, and some that are pink with black spots.

Connie,

Welcome back! I still have Doug, and he is a very interesting kitty. Still very much a loner in this house of 10 cats (well I am doing a short term foster for #11 Oscar).

I use only Lantus, so if I can help holler please.

Good to see you again.
