If my cat seems to be peeing excessively- what should I be doing?

I use Breeze litter box system which has clay pellets over a screen type thing and a pad to catch the urine:

Prior to the diabetes diagnosis I could go without changing the pad for more than a week. I opened the tray today and it was literally filled to the brim with urine. While I can't measure that I'd say that is peeing way to much. Her drinking varies in consumption. She is not regulated yet, she eats 2-3 cans of FF chicken daily. I am working my way through the board information. I read the thread on excessive urination she is going in the litter box that is not a problem. Is the excessive urination something I have to take action on?

The high blood sugar levels are the reason for a lot of urination. Getting the cats blood sugar levels down should reduce this considerably.

The reason there's so much urine is related to the amount the cat drinks due to the high blood glucose.....they drink lots of water to try to "dilute" the sugar from the bloodstream....and all that water has to go somewhere!!

One of the first signs that I knew I was getting somewhere with China's treatment was the drastic reduction in the amount of litter I had to scoop

As you get his blood glucose under better control, the amount of urine will decrease too

Same here for my boy :). Even though his numbers didn't show improvement for almost 2 months, his polyuria decreased a couple weeks into his treatment :).
