Just got home after dropping off our Idjit for his dental. I hope everything will be ok, with no extractions needed. He hollered at us all the way to the vet and I imagine we are going to be on the ** list when he gets home. :( He had just forgiven me for being away for 2 weeks.

Aww, I'm sorry. :( I always feel sick when I have to leave one of my girls. Even if extractions are needed, everything will be okay. He'll probably forgive you faster than you think. :bighug:

Thanks very much. I have already been to the store to get Beechnut baby food meat for his soup when he gets home.

I have never gotten/made special food for my girls after dental procedures. They just get their normal wet food with bone broth and water added. They usually eat like they are starving that first night home, and I guess they are after having food withheld since midnight!

Yup, luckily they have short memories and love us back right away 10 minutes later.
After testing him late last night before my bedtime he became fussy about it. But, He was hurling himself against my bedroom door and pounding to get in minutes later. What a Mr. Personality he is.

I pry should just offer his regular food, but after last dental he had diarrhea. He is more than a little spoiled, I know, and the baby food meat is "sick and recovery" food for him, when needed. I have probiotics on hand also, just in case he gets poopy again or has antibiotics.
We cooked a couple of turkey thighs and he got some bites and broth, he was in heaven. He is a very long cat, and he was stretched from the floor with his paws reaching the kitchen counter, nose atwitching at the wonderful aromas from the counter.

Awwwww big hugs!! They forgive us so much easier than we realize sometimes. I remember phoebe being angry for me leaving her at vets when she was sick. That took about 3 hours. Everytime we go for CBC she complains the Whole car ride, but within 20 seconds out of the carrier, it's "where's my food hooman?!!" Just happy to be home again.
Hope all goes well with the dental and Idjits right as rain in no time at all. :bighug::bighug:

I'm sure everything will be fine. Dusty had 6 extractions plus cleaning in March and Beni my civie had 1 extraction and cleaning last month. They both went straight to their bowls to pig out on their regular food as soon as they ran around the house to make sure everything was normal. Neither had any bad feelings towards me and were just so happy to be home. Dusty didn't "recognize" Beni for a few days, guess he still had the "vet" scent on him. I wrapped Beni in a nice clean fresh towel and just rubbed him over so he smelled like home sooner.

Vet just called, Idjit is good, no extractions, just some gum loss by a front canine. She said he looks wonderful and only had BG of 122! Down to 15.8 #, I guess he was kind of fat before Dx. But he is so long and very long haired, that the weight just didn't show.
He is still waking up and we can't go get him until 2:30 :( It's only a little after 11:00. DH had his hat and coat on and I just barely stopped him running out the door while I was on the phone talking to the vet! Silly old man (he loves his kitty!)
Thank you all for the support and encouragement. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Glad it went well :)
I'm glad too, he's home, been poddy, had some food (wants more, but I'm taking it easy to prevent scarf and barf) and seems to be feeling good. He had a mani-pedi and his ears cleaned to boot, so he is devilishly handsome! He's had lots of making up lovies for taking him to the vet and he hasn't swatted either one of us so I guess we're good.

See, recovering already! They are always so hungry that night but you are supposed to take it easy. I usually give something every two hours...just to make them feel fuller without testing the tummy too much.
Good idea, I will do that. Thank you for that advice. :bighug:

So glad he did so well! Big hugs..

I'm glad Idjit's dental went well. Kitteh dentals can be very challenging.

I'm going for a dental myself tomorrow. Not sure which is worse - the kitteh dental, or the human dental!

Did you have a tender mouth and get Beechnut Baby Food mea
LOL! I had two minor, less than 1/16" chips on one top and one bottom front tooth. So 2 teeth.

Last time I was at the dentist, I saw their advert for "dental bonding". Well, miracle of science, and I am now a believer. You can't even tell I used to have the chips. The dentist did very small buildups of the material, then took the excess off. Some dentists are absolute artists. And no crowns, no novacain, plus my teeth are better.

On the cat front:
LD just got rechecked for crystals, and the report today is zero urine crystals - YAY! He doesn't like the wet food as much but now he is healthier.

Leo had eating issues in the last 2 weeks. Ya never know if they get over the eating issue. I think he just ate the wrong leaf or grass blade outside. Anyhow we are relieved that he got over it. Now, his appetite is 10/10 again.

I haven't had a picture of soft orange belly and Leo's little pixie face for a LONG time. (That was a hint) . I'm so glad LD is doing well and sweet Leo is eating better. I hardly see any of your kitteh updates anymore. :(
