Hi guys,

I've checked the different cat food lists but I don't see values for Iams Perfect Portions or Nutro Perfect Portions on them.

I've contacted Iams but haven't heard back from them yet so am just wondering if anyone else has contacted them to get the Dry Matter values for Protein, Fats, Carb & Phosphorus and can let me know what they are for their Healthy Adult Chicken Recipe, Optimal Metabolism Chicken Recipe & Healthy Kitten Chicken Recipe.

I'm also waiting to hear back from Nutro about the same thing for their Wild Frontier Ancestral Inspired High Protein Grain Free Perfect Portions cat foods, specifically the Real Turkey Recipe & the Real Turkey & Duck Recipe.

If anyone has the info I'm looking for on these foods please let me know. I'm trying to find something better for Merry ingredient wise than the DM food, with similar percentages, but that costs a bit less. He's eating Fancy Feast Chicken Pate mixed with the DM but I'd rather feed him better quality than that. I also add real meat to his food too as a topper & he loves that, he won't eat it now without it, LOL!

Merry's spreadsheet is up to date as of last night and we're still working on getting him regulated. His dental went well Sept 12th so I'm hoping that's why I'm seeing some better numbers now at some times, but there's still many days when he's still too high even at +6 to +8. We just went back to 2 units of Lantus on Sunday.

Re his BG numbers: you'll find on the Lantus forum yellow stickies explaining the two dosing protocols, TR (Tight Regulation) and SLGS (Start Low Go Slow). There are clearly laid out steps to follow in each one to guide you in dosing to get better BG numbers.

Re food: I can't help you with the nutrient analysis of those foods you've listed. Some people here feed specialty pet foods like those while others feed Friskies and Fancy Feast pates. It depends on the owner's budget usually.

Congrats on the dental! That should make him feel better and improve his BG numbers.

Hoping someone else has contacted Iams or Nutro for those numbers as I would really like to be giving Merry some better quality food (the companies did not get back to me yet but I only emailed them on Sunday). His food is something that I can play around with because the rescue group does not want him on the DM because it's so expensive so they've given me the go ahead to try to get him onto something less expensive (but better quality).

That being said, my hands are tied as far as his insulin dosing goes because I have to do what the vet says. Merry belongs to the rescue group & I've already had a little talking to from not doing exactly what the vet has asked for his insulin. Merry's vet has helped other kitties go into remission so hopefully she can help Merry get back into remission (he came out of remission in May before he was surrendered to rescue in July). I don't want them to take him away from me because I'm not following the vets instructions.
