This board was a wonderful resource for us in helping us with Max's diabetes.

Unfortunately, Max lost his battle last week. On Wednesday I woke up and found him stiff and barely responsive on the couch. He was able to meow and that is about it. I took him to the vet and they were unsure what happened, since his blood sugar was around 100. It is possible he had a hypoglycemic episode in the middle of the night, but showed more signs of a seizure. He stayed at the vet all day getting fluids and his sugars were coming up. But, the result of his seizure caused blindness and his mobility severely diminished. I took him home so he could rest in the comforts of our house. The vet also wanted to see if he made anymore improvement over night. He had 2 small seizures at home and was not able to do his normal jumping. He could walk, but not very well. My husband had to pick him up and put him on the bed so he could sleep with us. In the morning after talking to the vet, after the additional seizures, the vet said his prognosis was not looking good. We decided that it was time and did not want to see him suffer anymore.

I like to think he is up above enjoying all the dry food he so desperately wanted!

Thank you again for all your insight and help. With three other kitties in the house, its possible we might be back.

Best wishes to you all.

I'm so sorry to see this. My heart felt sympathies.

Fly free dearest Max, land ever so softly back in your families heart, till you all meet again.

Sincere condolences,

I'm so sorry... I know how hard it is to make that decision, but clearly you did the right thing for your precious Max, and there is no doubt he absolutely knew he was loved very much, which is the most important thing of all. Sending lots of hugs to you and your family along with prayers that all the memories of your happy times with him will be a joy and a comfort to you always.

Susan

So very sorry to see that Max had to say goodbye. He is with the angels now. You did so much to help him along, but sometimes, they are just too tired and worn out, and like you said, he is probably enjoying his dry food he wanted so much!

Many condolences on your loss. He was a handsome boy!
