The other day I got a publix true2go free meter. I just used it, Perkins blood sugar is 152. He ate wet food at about 6pm, I checked him at 11pm. I tried earlier but I couldn't get a reading it kept saying e 3 or something like that, so I tried again and got it tonight. Granted it was about 5 hours after he ate but is this good? He did eat some dry food in the morning. I will check him again after he eats some dry food. I am wondering , what should a cats blood sugar be normally after a meal?

The interpretation of a glucose test in a cat on insulin depends on
1) how long it has been since the insulin was given - the glucose reduces while the insulin is working and rises when it wears off
2) what insulin it was - different insulins vary in how fast they takes effect and how quickly they wear off
3) ow long the cat has been on that dose - some insulin's effects build up over several days

Please describe all of those points for the most useful interpretation.

152 in itself is a pretty good number, but as BJ says we need a bit more info. Now that you're testing, can you set up a spreadsheet? That will help us interpret the numbers and help you with any dosing questions. Here are the instructions
