I think my cat has a UTI

Going to ER vet in a little bit, but is there something in the canned food (phosphorus) that could cause this? He's been off kibble for a few weeks now..

I checked his keytones and they are normal.

Had been constipated and have been giving a little bit of pumpkin in his food the last few days. Good amount of pee in litterbox during the day and after he ate and had his shot this started. After peeing a little bit a couple of times he pooped a normal poop..but then in and out of the litterbox...

Gave him a gabapentin so waiting a few minutes for it to kick in before taking the 35 minute ride to the ER vet. Wish me luck :/

Definitely clinical signs that summat's up.

Just waiting on lab to check his urine to confirm uti and to check for crystals or other infections..they said it could take an hour
 
The vet said no crystals but a lot of white blood cells (the bad ones..so maybe it's red). Going to try antibiotics and hope for the best
 
the extra sugar in their urine is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria....that's why they are more prone to UTI's

You might want to start a probiotic if he's going to be on antibiotics....a lot of them can cause diarrhea due to killing off the "good" bacteria as well as the bad
 
Hello..Max has been on Clavamox since Wednesday night for the uti. Right after starting the pills he seemed better in the sense he wasn't in and out of the litterbox. I think you are right about the diarrhea Chris..I had three probiotic pills left from a few months ago so I gave him one every other day for now. Just this morning around 3:40am he ate and 20 minutes later he puked. Around 5 am he ate again and puked at 5:50 am. I don't know what is going on and I'm afraid to give insulin if he's going to puke :(

Antibiotics can upset the GI tract a lot in some cats. It can also make them feel unwell, lethargic, etc. This is day 4 of ABX for him so the effects may have been building since Thursday.
 
I just gave him half the amount of food i normally do..his appetite is normal. Amps 361 :( Haven't given a shot yet..not sure if I should!
