Maynard will be 20 in January. I don't think he is going to make it. He is giving up and I am at my wits end. I think his heart and kidney issues are getting to be too much for him. nailbite_smile

I had been syringe mouth feeding him the last week as much as he would let me. Today he is refusing that, fighting with me and spitting out whatever I can get into him. He does drink water on his own, but not much interest in food. His next dr appt is Wed, but I don't know what to do.

It may be time to give him his wish and let him go to the Rainbow Bridge and be with his dad, Butchie. I HATE TO DO THAT. I DON'T WANT TO LET HIM GO! I am struggling. He is my last Butchie baby.

If you can, send prayers and guidance to help me. grr_red

I am sending prayers!! I know how hard that it can be to make that decision. I'm tortured with the same thing right now. Mine has Liver Failure and is sick every day. I think that she wants to leave me also. I'm praying for a miracle for you!

Thinking of you, Maynard, Terriy, and Chicken Little, and hoping for the best possible outcome for all of you. (((hugs)))

First, BIG HUGE HUG...it's so hard when we reach this stage. Whatever decision you make, you'll make it because you love him so much.

Another BIG looooooong hug,

Ah Ceil....I know...I remember Butchie and this just must be killing you but remember releasing them from their tired and sick bodies, doesnt remove the spirit, it free's it. Maynard will forever be in your heart, close to Butchies spirit.
Sending prayers for strength and guidance,
jeanne

You two are amazing to have taken such good care of each other for 20 years. I'm so sorry Maynard is not doing so well and letting you know. It's really hard to lose a furry buddy after so long. Will be thinking of you. (((Ceil)))

Well, turns out, he is holding his own.

I am getting him to eat tuna juice pretty regular. I know its not the best, but I feel it is something...........would there be a better cat food tuna for him????

He is not diabetic, but has some kidney and possible heart issues. So, at this point, I am giving him whatever I can that he will eat/drink. He is drinking water pretty regular and peeing ok.

He is a character....I can't keep up with these emotions. One day at a Time!!!

well, he is still licking up the tuna juice and drinking water quite well.

He seems to be coming out from under the bed a little more yesterday. Hopefully, he will start feeling better.

Today is my birthday and I think he is going to give me a good day and start eating....... nailbite_smile

I'm so pleased he seems to have picked up and you get to have more time with him. I feel this year that Lianna stayed as long as she did as much for me as for herself, they don't want to leave you and they will keep fighting, that our love encourages them to fight whatever is wrong.

I treasure every moment I have with each of my furbabies, I knew for over 7 years that Lianna was on borrowed time and could go at any moment. I hope you have more time to make more wonderful memories, and that Maynard makes it to his birthday with a good quality of life. But whatever happens, you have done everything you can, most important, you love him. And remember, they never really 'leave' us, Butchie is still watching over you and loving you. I know that doesn't make things easier, but I believe we will see everyone we've loved and lost again.

I got my birthday wish! :)

Maynard actually started EATING bites today! It was the best ever. Then, we took a small nap! He loves laying on my arm.

Now, hopefully he will keep it up and stop stressing me out nailbite_smile
