Oreo's AMPS and PMPS numbers have ranged from 61-125 with my Relion Confirm for the last two weeks. The 125 was one morning when I'd forgotten to pull his food the night before and I heard him downstairs eating about an hour before testing. He's had no insulin for two weeks and for the two weeks prior he'd had .5 to 1.5 units of Vetsulin per WEEK. So now, test how often?
 
Wonderful news!! You can consider Oreo in remission if he goes 14 days without insulin while having numbers within normal range on a human meter (50-120). In hindsight, I probably would have tested Oreo later that day after the 125 to verify that his BG went down. But off by 5 points may not mean much of anything considering the circumstances and that he went back within normal range afterwards. Now after the OTJ trial, how often you test is completely up to you. When my buddy Lou was going through his OTJ trial, I had planned on testing him at least once a day (at different times) for at least the rest of that month (2 weeks). Afterwards, I was going to test at least once a week. I know some people fall back to once every couple of weeks or once a month, but that depends on your comfort level. Please remember that once a diabetic, always a diabetic. Oreo will now be considered a diet-controlled diabetic, so make sure to keep feeding him that good, low carb food.
