Ok so I've been on here before because my vet and I were deciding if we wanted to start my cat on insulin or not because he was borderline. His levels fluctuate from 130 to 280 through out the day . We are on an all wet diet for a month now. His water intake and urination has went down dramatically since the diet change. But over the last 4 days I have really noticed symptoms of neuropathy. It's really scaring me !! He loses his balance and cant jump onto the bed . Please help me on what to do!! I'm so scared that things are going to get worse fast for him and I dont want that .

Can you set up the spreadsheet so we can see the blood sugar levels please? For us to help you with dosing insulin, we need to be able to see the BSLs in the SS:)
Have you been testing for ketones in the urine while you were waiting to start the insulin?
How much does your cat weigh?

I agree set up the spreadsheet. You may need to up the dose just a tiny bit. Also you can start giving be 12 methylcobalamin supplements such as zobaline which is on amazon or lifelink.com

It wouldn't upload to the website so I had to screenshot it . Sorry!

His glucose levels have been staying too high, and eventually, that does start to cause issues. 'Normal' on an AlphaTrak2 is something like 75 to 150. You only shared numbers from two days, but on both, he was over that range, so I would assume the same has been true every day. I would start the insulin. When his numbers become better, he will feel better. As Janet, said, you can also give something like Zobaline if you wish, but I would bet that controlling the glucose will do the trick.

Have you posted on the Lantus forum yet? You may want to get input on that starting dose. This may be a case where starting with 1/2 unit twice a day might be better. (If you do not already have them, you can get U100 syringes with 1/2 unit markings.)

I've done two tests today ..
8am -286 with AT strips (190 insulinX strips)
10am -286 with AT (179 InsulinX)

I'm wondering if something is wrong with the AT strips considering they are exactly the same .. they are expired by 6 months ..

What code have you set for the insulinx strips? Is this reading the insulinx strips in an alpha meter or in a human meter? If it's in the alpha meter try setting the code to 38. And make sure the correct code from the bottle is set for the alpha strips.
