I need y'all's advice please. It's urgent

Hi guy's. I took my cats BS at 8 am this morning using a Relion glucometer and it was 145, took again immediately after it was 203.
Last nite it was 341 then 251 immediately after.
I think I screwed up and it was too low to inject. I felt the needle go thru the skin a tiny bit because I felt a tiny prick and I could smell Lantus but I can't be sure since didn't go in. He takes 1 unit twice a day.
I called the vet and they said I could bring him in and test his glucose against their Alpha track but I can't afford it. (I'm literally broke)
I was supposed to make a spreadsheet but I lost my beautiful African grey (he got thru the screened in patio) Im too devasted to make one.). Please you can tell me if you think he'll be ok. I can't lose this one as well. I'll be trying to do another reading in a couple hours since it's been an hour since his injection. I have maple syrup on hand.

Fur shots happen even to experienced members. Your cat will be fine. Bg will probably be higher than usual at the next insulin time but it's ok.

Lantus does have a sort of antiseptic smell to it. If you smell it but don't feel any wetness where you injected, it's fine. Sometimes the needle will have a bit of insulin on the outside and it just rubs off onto the skin as you poke the needle in. Never inject again if you think you did a fur shot. You don't know if any insulin got in and you dont' want to risk an OD.

Do you have a spreadsheet set up?

Which Lantus protocol are you following? Sticky - Dosing Methods: Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) & Tight Regulation (TR)
 
Not yet. I've been trying to find my African Grey Parrot. He got thru the screened in porch. I'm devasted. I keep a close eye on my cat and don't inject it it's too low. I should have been more careful. Thank you so much. I'll try to get that done.
 
I saw the spreadsheet you linked here. Sadly. I don't have a computer or the capability to print out the spreadsheet

You don't need to print out the spreadsheet. It's Google based. Anyone with internet access will be able to view it if you give them the shareable link.

It's easiest to set a spreadsheet up with a computer though. Do you have a local public library? @BanditsMom can help you with a spreadsheet.
 
Once the spreadsheet is set up, you should be able to access it with your phone, provided you can get Google Sheets on your phone. Did you get another blood sugar test? Sounds like his numbers were going up?
