Jack recently fell out of remission and he’s been back on insulin since last Saturday night. (One week today.) His numbers have been and continue to be high (mostly in the reds and blacks). He has periodontal disease and my new vet won’t do surgery until his BG is controlled. I’m worried and frustrated.

I wanted to do the SLGS method. However, I’m concerned for his high numbers and need to bring him lower as soon as I can (for dental surgery). I will be home tomorrow and Monday to monitor him. I’m thinking that increasing .5U, to a 2u dose, looks warranted right now.

What are your thoughts?

I would go ahead and raise the dose.

Did you ask the vet about whether antibiotics were indicated? If there's an inflammation in gums, an antibiotic may help to get the numbers down.
