A friend of a friend has a 13 lb chihuahua DOG, has been on insulin 2 months. Humulin nph, 4 units 2x a day. She may have a pancreatic tumor. We have been through how to inject..she was stabbing her intramuscularly  . She is doing hometesting but has not yet done a curve. Is there a comparable site to this for dogs? Does anyone have a good vet in the Kalamazoo Michigan area? She was at preshot 428...at +3.5 she was 500ish.
The plan is to inject correctly  and try to do a curve or spot checks and report back to me...she will call again in maybe 2 days...

Thanks so much! Jen

Thanks guys! Hi Cindy! Mr. Peake is still OTJ...he has a specialty dental coming up in early January to extract the rest of his resorptive teeth. When the dogs are loud or rowdy he comes flying through the house...throws himself on top the two of them and beats everyone on the hiney with this paw...he's Sheriff Peake!
How are you Cindy? I miss my Spunky everyday....

hey there, got some vet info for you in the area. here's what i got back from susie who contacted sadie who lives in kalamazoo :-)

"I highly suggest mine. AAHA rated and I think better with dogs than cats.

They are wonderful and really good.

Also the vet I use for cats that can't travel all the way to Portage--they were good too, but busy.
I tried them for Pixie, and should have kept them, despite the dogs, considering the crap all-cat vet we used.

All female vets, but very modern and open to talking about treatments and such.

I am not as fond of some of the others in the area, though I have not tried them all and surely some are good with dogs too. Still, I highly recommend PAH as they are the only AAHA in the area.
