I might be coming back !! May need help w/the switch.

Just thought I'd jump on here real quick, to let anyone know, that I might be coming back on. I'm hoping to adopt DCIN's Dante. He is currently on Prozinc, 2u BID ;not being hometested (I'll b getting him started there as well)

I have used Levemir in the past, and wish to switch him over. So.....any help in that dept. would be wonderful !!

Sheri, that would be wonderful if you can adopt Dante.

Do you know what the 2u dose is based on if they are not home testing? Without numbers I'd say to start lev at no more than 1u bid, but it would be nice to see some numbers first. Hopefully, he will get used to tests pretty quick. It was a struggle with Jeddie - I had to burrito him for several weeks, but ECID,a s they say.

Will you also be changing his diet from the Rx one? Jeddie came to me on Hills DM canned and just changing him from that to Friskies got him OTJ for a few months.

I remember you! Not details, but I remember your name. So hard these days with so many new people all the time, and the board format has changed so much. :)

It's my understanding, that he has been going to the vet for curves.....Venita said I would get all his records and info on that. And yes, I will be getting him off what I assume to be the DM dry. I use mostly 9-Lives and Friskies canned right now (no gravy stuff, but will keep some on hand just in case) Of course, I will know more when I see his records and numbers.

Will definitely let you know more when I know more

Sneakers (Heather), Hershey (Libby), Shakespeare (Denise), (and maybe Asher (Donna)), as well as my Grayson all switched from ProZinc to Lev this summer. If any of us can offer whatever wisdom we've learned, I'm sure everyone will be glad to. If we're not around here, look over in TR.

And thanks for the info on Lev samples for our vets! WOW! I wonder if they'd share it with me if I asked? ;-) All their other clients are on ProZinc.

Grayson was very ketone prone (as well as insulin resistant), and when I switched, I went from 6u PZI to 3u Lev - then climbed every 7th dose. No ketone issues, but he didn't start responding till well past his PZI dose.

Good luck with Dante. Hopefully he'll cooperate for you! The burrito is my friend too Sheila! ;-)
