I am testing ab elderly cat with fine hair on her ears. As soon as I poke and get a bead it spreads out into the hair. And scooping doesn't work. I seem to recall that a thin film of polysporin ointment helps. Is this right or other ideas? Thanks

Because our cat had daily transdermal meds in his ears he learned to love getting his ears cleaned with warm and wet paper towels. He also had paper thin ears but because they were clean I could smear a blob of blood on the strip. Whether you poke right through or not if the surface is clean then test first and apologize to the cat later. We've all been there.

We've stopped suggesting Polysporin for cats. The Polymyxin B in it has been found to be toxic for cats.
