I did my first injection, and based on a video that I saw about injecting insulin that was obviously (in retrospect) not OK for lantus, I did these two mistakes:

" * Do not inject air into vial and especially not cartridges or pens. Cartridges and pens are designed to work on a negative pressure principle.

* If you draw up too much insulin in the syringe... squirt excess either into the air dramatically like they do on TV or into a paper towel... anywhere but back into vial/cartridge/pen. There is a silicon coating inside the syringe. It can contaminate the insulin vial with silicon (this is probably what makes "floaties", it forms a white precipitate). Better to waste a drop than ruin whole vial, cartridge, or pen. "

Are these cardinal sins? I'm not freaking out until I see either of these signs:

* If you see any hint of "floaties"/"tiny particles"... discard the insulin.

* If insulin is cloudy or discolored, or if rubber stopper is cracked... replace insulin immediately.

But, has anyone else done this and found no negative side effects? anyone who HAS had negative effects of these actions? I dosed 1u from u-100 with half markings

BTW--Only One condo a day is done per member & please put all your info in just one, cuts down on confusion & space! Helps us follow your day easier-OK??

f'ing up seems to be the word of the day. thanks roni.
I have zero experience with message boards, so any help would be appreciated.
What if I have a 911? can I post a new message then, or should it go in the long stream of the days' condo?

Sarah: you don't need to post anywhere else unless you have a Health question and want to post there. We do one condo a day so you start it out tomorrow morning and your subject line would look like this (example on numbers):

3/11 Kitty's Name AMPS 145

Then you add to it as you go by always going back to the FIRST post of the day, clicking the "edit" button on the upper right, updating your subject line, and then click submit so during the day, it might look like this:
3/11 Kitty's Name AMPS 145 +2 140 +4 100 +6 80

When you get your PMPS number, then go back to the first post of the day again, click the "edit" button, and start the PM cycle's numbers, and click submit; so it would look like this (still same condo):

3/11 Kitty's Name PMPS 100

Keep adding as you go just like you did in the morning. Anytime you want to post something in the large text box, just hit "post reply".

Hope that helps.
