Hi, as the title says, Galaxy's going on no insulin today as I didn't do it properly. I did what I always do, the 'tenting' of the skin and fur, only when I patted him and rubbed his fur there was wetness and on my hand it did smell like insulin. Is this a big deal? I'll only be home after 5 today, shall I give it then, or wait until his normal time (7-8 pm)? The testing kit is still in transit, getting it probably next couple of days. Is this really going to mess up his routine?

It's only a big deal if your cat had ketones.it's happened to us all. If the normal time is 7, you could do 6, then move the morning shot back to normal

The oh-so pesky fur shot! Don't sweat it! This morning it is possible that Galaxy got some insulin from the shot, so while he didn't get the full dose, he may have gotten a partial dose. I don't think that this mornings blip will damage your routine, in the short term or in the long run.

Galaxy is such a handsome man! My Mowgli looks very similar, black cats FTW!

Thank you for the responses! Got home just after 5, Gax was looking OK if a bit wobbly. I would have loved to check his BS right away but don't have the kit yet. Not more than the usual amount of water drunk during the day. Patrolled in the garden, did his thing, dinner at 6, then shot at 6.40. I think he'll be fine. Putting this here also thinking of anyone who's had this / future newbs. AmandaE I love what you did with Mowgli's photo lol

Wait!! Let’s try this! (I’m inspired and now ridiculously have made a nice edit to the above pic!)

Those Wiser Than Me (there are plenty around here) say that if you botched the shot, give the next shot at the usual time. I am thinking that if you give a partial shot, there's no way to tell how much this shot was. So it's far safer to give no insulin at the time. I've given quite a few "fur shots$, but judging by M'row's BG at the next scheduled injection, only one was for real, BTW.
